Are you interested in learning more about wildlife around you? Do you think your community could help protect nature? Then Community Wildlife could be the programme for you.

Big Lottery Fund has teamed up with BBC to launch the programme, which brings communities together to improve or protect the natural environment by raising awareness of threatened wildlife or places.


 

Who can apply?

  • Not for profit groups
  • Local councils
  • Schools
  • Health bodies
How much is available?
Grants of between £300 and £10,000 for projects that can be finished within one year.

When is it available?
Application forms are on our website now www.biglotteryfund.org.uk There are three deadlines:
  • 21 July 2010
  • 22 September 2010
  • 24 November 2010
What will it fund?
Projects that improve rural or urban environments for people to enjoy, for example by:
  • Protecting wildlife habitats
  • Creating a nature trail, woodland walk or wildlife garden
  • Improving community spaces such as rivers, ponds, woodlands
Projects that get people more active and healthier, for example by:
  • Exploring parks, rivers and the countryside to look for rare or endangered species
  • Encouraging people to take up gardening or to go on nature walks
  • Providing opportunities for children to learn about nature through play
